What to Expect

Many people feel some anxiety about not knowing what going to a psychologist or psychiatrist involves, what that first visit will be like, or what questions they will be asked. We’re here to explain what you can expect:

  • Client

    Individual Therapy

  • Session Duration

    60-90 mins

Before Your Appointment

Whether you booked your appointment by phone or through our website, we will already have contacted you to confirm the date and time and to let you know who will be seeing you that day.

You should receive your appointment confirmation by email, SMS, or through the Doctoralia app if you have it installed on your phone. If you have not received any notification, please contact us.

First Day: Welcome and Documentation

On the day of your appointment, we will provide you with the data protection form, which you will be asked to complete and sign. If you have already downloaded and completed it at home, simply bring it with you so we can file it.

If the patient is a minor, an informed consent form must also be completed during the appointment. This form must be signed by both parents or by the legal guardian(s). If you wish to complete it in advance, you can find it in the Child and Adolescent Psychology Services section.

The First Consultation

Once you enter the consultation room, your therapist will welcome you and gather biographical information about you, what has brought you to seek help, and how you believe we can support you.

This first session is mainly focused on understanding what led you to request an appointment at our center and on collecting relevant information to begin the assessment process.

Your Next Appointment

After your session, your next appointment will be scheduled based on the needs identified during the session and your therapeutic goals.
